    The famous writer Charles Dickens spent time at the Royal Hotel whilst writing the novel David Copperfield.

    The hotel was also patronized by Edward VII. The original Edward VII crest is on the front of the hotel. It is so well-known and bona fide that HM Queen sent a special message to us last time she was an official visit.
